History of WATT

WA Torque Tools (WATT) started on 1st September 2008.

For some 2-3 months WATT existed as a mobile sales outfit, travelling throughout the Pilbara region of WA.

As the weather became hotter, WATT based itself in Karratha WA working from the double garage of our rental property. These were tough times for WATT, with most companies within the Pilbara very cautious about taking on any newbies, as they knew full well new companies in the Pilbara don’t last long due to the high cost of living and the extremes in weather conditions.

WATT persisted.  We rented a small workshop in the local light industrial area, where we established the first Torque Tool Testing lab in the Pilbara to service the local companies. WATT also set up a small workshop for the repairs of Torque Tools and Porta- Power equipment. The local companies were getting the message, we were here to stay. Almost a year to the day, WATT was starting to make in-roads with our targeted client base.

The small workshop was sufficient to get WATT established as a recognised service provider to the companies of the Pilbara. WATT expanded gradually adding further stock lines and services. We established good working partnerships with many major suppliers.

WATT became Authorised Service/sales/repair agents for Atlas Copco and Rapid-Torc which instilled confidence within our customers and gave us a point of difference over our competitors.

We also became Agents/Importers for

• Impact Tools
• Tesco Tools
• Power Team Hydraulics
• Norbar Torque Tools
• Huck

In February 2011, we moved to our current Karratha location. Our workshop was designed to specifically meet our needs, including specialised calibration labs, workshops and storage areas.

Over the years, WATT have developed a substantial number of account customers. We also have new customers contacting us on a regular basis, some applying for credit accounts others using our credit card facilities.

In early 2015, splitting our services/calibrations and hire into two separate departments, WATT moved its hire department into unit 8.

March 2017 saw WATT become ISO9001, ISO14001 and AS/NZS4801 certified

Due to customer demand in July 2017 WATT opened the doors of its Perth branch located in Wangara

In October 2018 HYTORC Torque Tooling awarded its exclusive West Australian Distributorship to WATT Torque and Porta Power, with both the Karratha and Perth branches being appointed Approved Repair Centres.
